Yet Another Toyota Recall
Toyota Recalls 311,000 of its 2010 Prius

"Regulators in the United States opened an investigation into the brakes of the 2010 Prius last week after complaints from drivers that the car can momentarily lose the ability to slow down when driven on an uneven surface. The Japanese government has also said it is also looking into the matter after similar complaints were reported in Japan." NYTimes: Toyota Is to Recall 2010 Prius Model Cars for Brakes

Think Beyond The Label
Hire People With Disabilities

A new campaign encouraging the hiring of people with disabilities has debuted. This effort seems to have significant funding.

"Health & Disability Advocates (HDA), a national nonprofit organization that promotes income security and improved health care access for children, people with disabilities, and low-income older adults, is spearheading the Think Beyond the Label campaign on behalf of more than 25 states and various national and regional organizations..." They are on Twitter @beyondthelabel, Facebook, LinkedIn and they even have a YouTube channel with videos of their commercials. Check it out. Seems like a very aggressive, yet tongue in cheek, disability awareness campaign.

PROpenMic has 5,400+ members. At this time, we have Faculty: 427; Students: 2,639; and, Practitioners: 2,499. There is, of course, some overlap as that does not add up to the total number of members listed on the site. It exceeds that number. Some people identify themselves as both faculty and practitioner, for example. PROpenMic has 450+ colleges and universities represented in our membership. We also have members from over 70 countries.

Anyone interested in PR higher education is welcome to join the PR Higher Ed Twibe. If you're not familiar, Twibes are "a group of Twitter users interested in a common topic who would like to be able to communicate with each other. On each twibe's page, there is a list of twibe members. There is also a tweet stream that lists tweets from twibe members which contain key word tags. Tags are set by the twibe founder and are listed just above the tweet stream. You can browse through twibes that have already been created by going to www.twibes.com/twitter-groups."
